Co-organized by RGI, the World Bank’s Energy Global Department , the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) & Terna.
How can we ensure the European energy system is resilient to climate change impacts? Our upcoming webinar explores solutions!
European grids face unprecedented threats from extreme weather events, such as heatwaves, floods, high winds, alongside the challenge of rapid renewables integration.
To address these developments, European transmission system operators are implementing solutions throughout entire investment cycle from planning to operation. Join us for a critical deep dive into how climate adaptation and resilience strategies are being integrated into the planning, operation, & investment of European power systems.
Speakers

Nayve Martinez Rubio
Principal Investment Officer, Global Infrastructure & Natural Resources | IFC
Will start the session with opening remarks

Andrzej Ceglarz
Director – Energy Systems | RGI
Will present the joint RGI-ENTSO-E’s workstream on climate adaptation and resilience in the European grid planning process – Ten-Year Network Development Plan.

Franck Dia Wagoum
Long-Term Planning Specialist | ENTSO-E
Will cover the development for a Cost-Benefit-Analysis indicator evaluating the benefit brought by adaptation measures in the European electricity grid planning. The methodology compares the social-economic welfare (SEW) for a project with & without adaptation measures in place based on a Net-Present-Value approach.

Federico Falorni
Grid Resilience and Security Planning | Terna
Will introduce the new resilience risk-based methodology developed by the Italian TSO, Terna, to assess the benefits of measures aimed at increasing the resilience of the NTG. An innovative solution developed by Terna will be presented: Pole-Mounted Switchgear (OMP) that increases the flexibility and resilience of the grid in specific asset configuration & in the event of extreme weather conditions, also providing the related resilience benefit.

Selena Jihyun Lee
Energy Specialist | Energy Global Department, World Bank
Will moderate the Q&A Session
