Energy System Optimisation
RGI supports Europe’s energy system planning processes, helping ensure it is aligned with decarbonisation targets, while considering system constraints and the needs of different stakeholders.
about the topic
Achieving Europe’s climate and energy goals requires a well-coordinated, forward-looking approach to energy system planning.
As the continent works towards climate neutrality by 2050, at the latest, implementing the energy system of tomorrow requires overcoming complex challenges. These include renewable generation integration, grid infrastructure expansion, and cross-sectoral interactions.
At the same time, effective planning must ensure that the energy system remains reliable, efficient, and socially and environmentally accepted while addressing these issues.
Through different activities and projects, RGI fosters collaboration, facilitates knowledge-sharing, and promotes best practices. These efforts support Europe’s energy system planning processes to help ensure it is aligned with decarbonisation targets, while considering diverse system constraints and the needs of different stakeholders.
