Climate Adaptation & Resilience
RGI promotes exchanges among different stakeholders to define the challenges and seek solutions toward climate-proof energy systems
about the topic
Increasing climate change and extreme weather events, such as storms, floods, and wildfires, distress electricity infrastructure and the entire energy system.
However, the consequences of these impacts and solutions to address them are not sufficiently incorporated in energy system planning.
To tackle this challenge, RGI convenes exchanges among grid operators, energy system and climate modellers, European authorities, civil society and researchers to define the challenges and seek solutions toward climate-proof grids and climate-resilient energy systems.

Explore good practices on climate-proofing electricity grids
Showcasing how electricity infrastructure can be adapted to climate change and extreme weather events, RGI has compiled good practices from grid operators across Europe. This is part of RGI’s work with ENTSO-E to contribute to long-term grid planning that considers climate adaptation and resilience aspects.
