Bird Protection

Explore our work on multiple fronts and in partnerships with various stakeholders to support an energy transition that is truly ‘bird-friendly’

about the topic

All infrastructure inevitably occupies space and thus has some degree of impact on nature. However, due to their ubiquity and physical characteristics, power lines in particular can pose a significant risk to the avian species with which they share the airspace, through collision and electrocution. The same applies to other renewable energy infrastructure, such as wind turbines.

Fortunately, effective mitigation measures do exist. They rely on technological innovation, strong collaboration between civil society and industry, and improved infrastructure planning based on accurate data on bird presence. Acknowledging this, RGI actively works on multiple fronts and in partnerships with various stakeholders to support an energy transition that is truly ‘bird-friendly’.
