RGI warmly welcomes our newest Member, Association Biom (BirdLife Croatia)- a civil society organisation dedicated to nature conservation.

Joining as a new RGI member, Association Biom (BirdLife Croatia) is a civil society organization dedicated to nature conservation, its promotion and popularisation.

Biom’s mission is to preserve biodiversity through the implementation of conservation measures for wild species and habitats, with a primary focus on birds. Biom aims to build and nurture strong connections between communities and nature, which the organization sees as a basis for conservation efforts. Biom works on monitoring of electrocution in mortality hotspots and in close cooperation with Croatian energy distributors work on mitigation measures for minimising negative impacts of energy infrastructure on birds. Find out more about Biom’s work on their website.

“The rapid growth of energy infrastructure associated with renewable energy in Europe is unprecedented. We require impactful cooperation to ensure that, in the era of rapid power grid development, the standards of nature protection – for wild animals and their ecosystems – are not overlooked. The renewable energy revolution is crucial to limiting climate change at the same time. I believe RGI may be very important in making sure that development is properly planned and carried out in harmony with nature.”
