“Climate change directly affects every segment of the electricity system altering generation potential and efficiency, testing physical resilience of transmission and distribution networks, and changing demand patterns”. (IEA on climate resilience)
The conference ‘Adaptation & Resilience’ – jointly hosted by RGI and the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) – explored the effects climate change is having on our physical electricity infrastructure, as well as the additional impacts it is likely to have in the future. Is it resilient enough to withstand extreme weather events? How can we adapt it to the impacts of climate change? How will this affect energy infrastructure planning in the future?
Our conference helped answer these questions and kick-start a discussion on next steps by bringing the involved actors into one room to talk about the changes required to adjust to the realities of climate change when building the infrastructure for the energy transition.
Attendees were also able to contribute to our exchanges with experts in energy infrastructure modelling, operation and policy, throughout the below agenda.
