RGI launches a Factsheet on key aspects of climate resilient electricity system planning

As the climate change increases weather variability and chances for extreme events to happen, a climate resilient planning and operating processes for the electricity grid is necessary.

This includes understanding how the electricity system might be sensitive to weather, as well as what adaptation solutions must be implemented to increase the grid resilience. 

In September 2022, RGI hosted a Modellers’ Exchange Workshop in collaboration with Hitachi Energy to analyse the impacts of climate change to the grid and include them into electricity system modelling, and infrastructure planning.

During the event, over 20 climate modellers and electricity system experts discussed the challenges and opportunities behind infrastructure resilience to climate change and weather extremes.

As a result of the discussions, a factsheet was developed, summarising key elements of the debate, as well as the main tools, challenges and solutions to be considered going forward. You can download the document on the link below.
