Leading Practices in RES Integration A Global Perspective

The conference showcased best practices of RES integration from different regions of the world. We shone a spotlight on many different RES integration practices: from the Mediterranean, across Europe and beyond.

We are convinced that sharing best practices is the best way to foster the integration of renewables in a more innovative and sustainable way. At this conference, we shone a spotlight on RES integration practices from around the world.

Part of this was to take a closer look at a number of leading practices created in the region hosting our event: the Mediterranean has seen ground-breaking shares of renewable energy sources managed safely despite the relative isolation of its electric systems. Resource potential and geographical constraints have no doubt fostered the region’s innovative ability. These conditions can inspire and support other regions at a time when ambitious plans are necessary to meet our climate and energy targets.

During two days in Barcelona, we brought challenges, solutions and open questions related to RES integration to the stage. Among the topics we discussed were:

Cristina Simioli

Cristina Simioli is responsible for RGI’s portfolio of offshore activities, which have the objective of finding solutions to reconcile energy and nature in renewable and grid infrastructure development. She has extensive experience in the instigation and coordination of national, regional and European cross-sectoral collaborations and in participatory and stakeholder engagement techniques. Before joining RGI, she worked on climate and nature protection for an environmental NGO, a UN agency and an engineering consultancy.
