Energy Storage - a key enabler of the energy transition

Energy storage has in the past played an important role in balancing supply and demand on electricity grid networks. Moving forward, it will play an increasingly important role. Safely integrating increasing shares of variable renewables requires a more flexible power system. Energy storage can provide this flexibility and is therefore a key enabler of the energy transition.

RGI Members have teamed up with the California ISO to develop the paper "Energy Storage - Perspectives from California and Europe"  detailing key energy storage trends. This paper also provides a set of recommendations for decision makers, intended to support the continued deployment of energy storage resources.
