OCEaN is delighted to welcome its first supporting organisation: the Copenhagen based think tank Ocean Institute
The Offshore Coalition for Energy and Nature (OCEaN) is a coalition of NGOs, wind industry and transmission system operators, who joined forces in late 2020 to cooperate on the sustainable deployment of offshore wind, while ensuring alignment with nature protection and healthy marine ecosystems.
In September 2022, the group welcomed its first supporting organisation: the Copenhagen based think tank Ocean Institute.

While formally signing on as a supporting organisation, Liselotte Hohwy Stokholm, the CEO of Ocean Institute said: “The massive and rapid expansion of offshore wind is crucial to meet our climate goals. However, it is also fundamental to ensure an environmentally friendly development of offshore renewable energy and nature inclusive design possibilities. Offshore wind energy must be planned with a long-term perspective and need to take into account the cumulative effects of human activities at sea. Therefore, we support this alliance’s collaborative and holistic approach for offshore wind energy to align environmental protection and restoration targets with global climate goals”.
Ocean Institute is a membership organisation that involves and listens to stakeholders and seeks dialogue. They aim to build a bridge across natural and business interests for the benefit of the sea. They currently have a broad variety of members, including leading Danish companies, organizations and research institutions.
