OCEaN – North & Baltic Seas is proud to announce Seas at Risk is joining our Coalition as a supporting organisation. Seas at Risk is an association of over 30 environmental organisations across Europe, works to protect marine life and ensure that our seas and ocean remain abundant, diverse, and resilient to climate change.
As part of their work, they are committed to promoting a nature-inclusive energy transition at sea, where offshore wind can realise its potential for climate mitigation without compromising the health of marine ecosystems, our strongest allies in the fight against climate change. To achieve this, they advocate for coherent and holistic policies to balance offshore renewable energy development with marine protection and restoration at both the European and international levels.
With our shared vision and goals, OCEaN – North & Baltic Seas welcomes Seas at Risk to the Coalition and looks forward to collaborating on how to achieve a nature-friendly offshore energy transition.

Monica Verbeek, Executive Director, Seas at Risk, on joining OCEaN – North & Baltic Seas:
“Offshore wind is crucial in the fight against climate change, and in shaping a resilient future for both people and the planet. At the same time, a healthy, biodiverse ocean is a vital ally in the same fight for a stable climate. Offshore wind and ocean protection must go hand in hand, each instrumental in achieving the shared goals of combating and mitigating climate change. As a network of environmental NGOs dedicated to restoring and protecting the health of marine ecosystems, Seas At Risk is committed to ensuring that offshore renewable energy expands in harmony with nature. We are excited to join forces with OCEaN and bring our expertise on marine biodiversity to ensure that offshore wind development aligns with preserving the health of European seas for a climate-resilient and biodiverse future.”
