DSO Entity and ENTSO-E have launched a platform for sharing knowledge on technologies and their real-world implementation in the energy system. The platform, Technopedia, provides factsheets on use-cases for distribution and transmission system operators and supports the uptake of technologies for the transition to low-carbon grids.
Highlights
01
Provides open and accessible information on technologies supporting the transition to low-carbon grids.
02
The platform is collaborative, allowing stakeholders to contribute information on grid technologies for publication, with a transparent review process.
03
The first knowledge-sharing platform to bring together DSOs, TSOs and relevant stakeholders, Technopedia allows users to share experiences and lessons learned, fostering innovation.
Main Information
Commercial technologies with potential to enhance electricity grid performance and contribute to decarbonising the energy system are available. In this context, DSO Entity and ENTSO-E, the associations for DSOs and TSOs in Europe, have developed an accessible information platform on technologies used in the electricity transmission and distribution system, showing commercially available technologies that enhance the utilisation, stability, security and resilience of the electricity grid.
The collaborative platform allows stakeholders, including technology providers, policymakers and the broader public, to contribute information and share experiences from their own countries, fostering innovation and supporting the transition to a low-carbon grid.
Information submitted is reviewed by electricity grid experts from DSO Entity and ENTSO-E to ensure accuracy, inclusivity, fairness and relevance. It is updated annually. The project contributes to the European Commission’s Action Plan for Grids, which highlights the role of digitalisation and innovative grid solutions in the energy transition and achieving climate targets.
