Webinar: Discover the NiD4OCEAN Open Innovation Challenge

NiD4OCEAN invites students, SMEs, researchers and innovators to take part in a webinar on Wednesday 19 June, where they will present the NiD4OCEAN Open Innovation Challenge. This online session will provide an overview of the NiD4OCEAN challenge, including its objectives, scope, and expected outcomes.

NiD4OCEAN is advancing a sustainable blue economy by developing science-based solutions for industry, managers, and policymakers. As a consortium partner of this Horizon Europe project, RGI is proud to support the launch of an Open Innovation Challenge to find creative, nature-inclusive ideas that boost biodiversity and reduce environmental impacts of offshore wind infrastructures.

The Challenge is now live on the NiD4OCEAN website for you to find out more details and how to join. To kick off the challenge, the project is hosting an introductory webinar on 19 June. This online session will provide an overview of the NiD4OCEAN challenge, including its objectives, scope, and expected outcomes. Participants will gain insights into how their ideas and innovations can contribute to nature-inclusive offshore wind design, and how their proposals will be evaluated.

Open globally to start-ups, SMEs, and research groups, NiD4OCEaN's Challenge seeks biodiversity-enhancing concepts for offshore wind, focusing on European sea basins. Innovators are invited to think outside the box and propose concepts that address mitigation of negative impacts and/or restoration or enhancement of specific organisms or habitats, including solutions at a very early stage of development. The winning idea will be showcased at WindEurope 2026 in Madrid—an event drawing 10,000+ wind energy professionals.

The webinar will also be an opportunity to meet the NiD4OCEAN team, ask questions, and receive practical guidance on how to submit a strong application. Whether you’re already working on a solution or just curious to learn more, we invite you to join us and discover how to make the most of this exciting opportunity.
