Main Information
To support communities in its operational zone, Amprion is running a Community Development Programme focused on equal opportunity and educational equity. With a funding pot of €150,000, Amprion enters into multi-year funding partnerships with projects and initiatives that work in a variety of ways to promote equal opportunities and educational prospects for young people. The programme supports a range of initiatives including early childhood education, school education, career guidance and training, gender equality, support for disadvantaged groups and a makerspace for young people with special interests and talents in applied science and engineering. In order to generate lasting and genuine impact, all collaborations are designed to be long-term and involve Amprion staff. Representatives from the TSO regularly visit the project sites to see the work being done and, where appropriate and beneficial for both sides, organise additional events that support the project partners.
A particular highlight of this programme in 2025 was a holiday activity day organised by Amprion for the the association Tausche Bildung für Wohnen e.V. (Exchanging Education for Housing), located in the Northern German city of Hamburg. Through this project, young volunteers receive rentfree accommodation in a shared flat for a year and, in return, provide learning support to children from educationally disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
Staff at Amprion’s Hamburg site wanted to contribute personally beyond the obligatory donation cheque and organised a halfday holiday programme for the children. They set up several hands-on stations focused on physics, energy generation and transmission – sharing knowledge in ways that sparked moments of understanding and excitement.
