50Hertz Transmission
50Hertz is responsible for the operation, maintenance, planning, and expansion of the 380/220 kilovolt trans-mission grid throughout the German Federal States of Thuringia, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, Berlin, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and Hamburg. The transmission system operated by 50Hertz covers 109 000 square kilometres and has a length of around 9 700 kilometres. It ensures the net integration of around 41 percent of all installed wind energy plants in Germany and provides the backbone for the safe and secure power supply to some 19 million people.
